Some call it Alt-Country, Americana or Roots, but however you shake it, Sean Burns is a  Country music singer. A dedicated Country Music historian and preservationist, Sean waves the flag of hardcore Honky-Tonk in a fashion unmatched by most of his peers. Regularly touring coast-to-coast across Canada and into the United States since 2010, it’s not often Sean sits below the 125 show mark annually. “This is not a hobby”,  proclaims the Winnipeg-based Honky-Tonker.  With a dedicated following across Western Canada, Sean continues to passionately spin tales of highways and heartbreaks, of drinkers, drunks, trains and trucks in every imaginable live performance scenario.

Putting that country music research and knowledge to good use, Sean acted as host of Boots &. Saddle on CKUW 95.9 FM in Winnipeg for over 230 episodes spanning between December 2016 to May 22. The Northern Report Podcast was launched in 2021 as an arena for Sean to interview artists from local legends to regional stars and the cream of the Canadian crop.

Going back to his roots as a Bass player, February 2022 saw Burns become the newest member of Corb Lund & The Hurtin’ Albertans.  When he’s not on the road with Corb, Sean is back to regularly performing around Winnipeg and across Western Canada, Solo or with his band, Lost Country. Servicing audiences of dancers, romancers and loyal citizens of Country music, you’re guaranteed your money’s worth from an evening with the high-energy outfit. This is on full display in the bands “Honky-Tonkumentary Film” which showcases 3 full live song performances from the burning hot band with an extended look and introduction to the group. Historically operating as a 4 or 5 piece band, beginning in February, 2023 Lost Country is working lean & mean as a trio with Sean on Upright & Electric Bass with Grant Siemens on Guitar and Joanna Miller of Drums & Vocals.

A slew of Singles have been and will continue to be released beginning in late 2022 into early 2023 ahead of Sean’s upcoming album of “lost” Canadian Country music songs. More on that later though…

What they’re saying…

“Sean Burns joins the growing number of under the radar independent artists who clearly love to listen to and play classic country; albeit from their own point of view with original songs and well chosen covers. Top notch music for all occasions - if those occasions demand a cool band building a head of steam on some hot songs.” - LONESOME HIGHWAY

"If modern country is no longer country, and alt-country is the new country, then where can possibly find new "old country"? The answer to to this is Sean Burns and Lost Country, who are exactly what I've been holding out for.” GREAT DARK WONDER

“Sean Burns is a hugely talented Canadian singer-songwriter who plays a brand of country music from way out on the left of the mainstream.” American Roots U.K.

“He puts his heart into every record and carries high the flag of honky-tonk that can now only be found in independent productions” - PLANET COUNTRY

“Burns has the raw yet smooth country vocals that pull together an album of this caliber, and the steel guitar sounds on the album are a reminder of what most modern country is missing.” - CANADIAN BEATS

“Burns captures the grittiness of troubadour life and creates a style that hits home to fans of Canadiana, Americana, Folk, Country, and Blues music world-wide.” - THE COUNTRY NOTE
